The Prep/Year One class began their day with a massive buzz of excitement because Grandparents’ Morning had finally arrived. We had worked very hard indeed to make sure our very special visitors would have the best morning ever. Stories had been written about our grandparents and gifts had been made. Now it was time to show everyone our beautiful school and how much we learn.
After Miss Dowe had welcomed our visitors, we demonstrated how we use technology in our everyday lessons. We sang along with a YouTube song about the months of the year and showed them very briefly how a phonics lesson is introduced using the SmartBoard. Our Grandparents loved it when we showed them how easily we use the I-pads.
At 9.30 we snuggled in with our grandparents and showed them that we could read them a story for a change. We also showed them where we sit in our classroom, along with some of the work we have done. What fun it was to share all these things with the people we love so much. Mrs S. came in to share in our fun and met some of our Grandparents, too. We were happy to see that she was a part of our day.
It was soon 10.30 and it was time to go down to the Community Room so we could give our visitors their gift packs. Our Grandparents took home the story we had written about them, along with two photos of us to keep. The gifts did not stop there; they also had a glittered peg magnet for their fridge.
To end the very special morning, we took part in a scrumptious morning tea provided by our lovely P & C ladies. We must say that there was hardly any room left in our tummies for our fruit and vege morning tea.
Miss Dowe told us that she was extremely proud of our behaviour and that she is just the luckiest teacher in the world. We thanked Mrs Missingham for all the hard work she had done to help make our morning such a success. Now we can’t wait until the next Grandparents’ Morning!!!!!
